Background: The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) continues to develop, procure, and sustain the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Weapon System for the U.S.

The THAAD mission provides protection against short- and medium-range ballistic missiles using Hit-to-Kill technology in the endoatmosphere and exoatmosphere.
